Not a Christian?

Why do I need to become a Christian?

The Bible tells us that, "unless you are born again you cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven" (John 3:3). We are also told in the Bible that, "the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone". The Bible also says that we have all broken God's law, and have followed our own selfish desires. "Now the works of the flesh are revealed which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings and such like...that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God" (Gal 5:19-21).

What hope do I have then?

Nothing of yourself, but listen to what the Bible says. "he that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life" (John 3:36). Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" (John 14:6). "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). "There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (Rom 3:10). "Come now , and let us reason together say's the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow". (Isaiah 1:18).  Many people would claim to be Christians, but aren't true Biblical Christians. Many people don't claim Christianity yet believe in God, so what is the difference? 'Believe' means to 'adhere to', therefore when Jesus said to believe on the Son, He meant that those who truly believe will adhere to, or follow His commands. Many people have made a false Jesus to suit themselves, that is called idolatry, but there is only one Jesus and He is known through the Holy Bible, His way is set out in the Bible and is clear for all to see. Jesus died for you so that you would not be punished for your sins when you die and stand before God in judgment. Jesus Christ has already stepped into the Judgment Hall for you and pronounced Himself guilty on your behalf. He has taken your sentence and served your time for you. If you will believe and obey Him, you can be saved from the guilty verdict. If you don't turn to Him and be saved, the Bible advises you to keep on being a sinner (Rev 22::11), because Hell will soon swallow you up, whether you believe it or not. Today, as you read this you decide your fate, will it be innocent or guilty when you step into God's judgment Hall?

What do I have to do?

Turn to Jesus Christ today, be sorry for your sins, ask Him for forgiveness, invite Him to be the Lord of your life, and then you will become a true Christian. No looking back, once you become a Christian you must follow Jesus Christ with your whole life and in your entire lifetime or no guarantee can be given to your eternal destiny, to say this prayer and then turn back to sin could see the loss of your salvation, as it says in Rev 2:26 "And he that overcomes and keeps my works to the end, to him I will give power over the Nations."

How do I know I'm really a Christian?

The Word of God tells us that those who love God obey His commandments (John 14:23-24). As you begin your new life as a Christian and mature in Christianity these things will be evident in your life. You will strive to read the Bible regularly and obey it, talk to God in prayer every day, attend regularly and be a part of a Bible believing Church, and you will desire to talk to others about Jesus Christ regularly. Don't worry if you make a mistake, Christians aren't perfect, they are forgiven, but a true Christian doesn't go back into their old way of life, they become disciples of Jesus and follow Him in every way (Acts 11:26).

Warning

There is a devil, and he knows you now belong to God instead of him, therefore you may experience some persecution from your commitment to the Lord. Don't fear though because God is on your side and He is more powerful than satan and all his demons. A new Christian in the Bible is likened to a baby, The Bible is likened to milk that feeds this baby. It is imperative that you lock into a good church and learn about Christianity in order to grow big and strong so that your commitment can be sure, which will see your eternal salvation secured.
